IDP participated in the Kick-off Meeting of the project “Brilliant Artificial Intelligence Toolkit – Higher Education Instructors” (BAIT-HEI), funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme, which marked the beginning of an ambitious three-year initiative aimed at revolutionising teaching methodologies and practices in higher education (HE).

This collaborative project brings together 9 organisations from 9 different EU countries, including:

  • ŠKODA AUTO Vysoká Škola OPS (Czech Republic)
  • Seinäjoen Ammattikorkeakoulu Oy (Finland)
  • Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden (Germany)
  • Univerzita Komenského v Bratislave (Slovakia)
  • Sveučilište u Dubrovniku (Croatia)
  • IDP (Italy)
  • Institut de Haute Formation aux Politiques Communautaires (Belgium)
  • Internet Web Solutions SL (Spain)
  • SOC Blended Learning Limited (Ireland)

The BAIT-HEI project seeks to empower higher education instructors across Europe to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) purposefully, responsibly and effectively in three critical aspects of their work:

  1. Curriculum Development, by leveraging AI to design course structures, learning outcomes and module durations.
  2. Teaching Methods, by enhancing classroom engagement and designing diverse assignments, including individual, group and research-based tasks.
  3. Assessment, by using AI tools to create tests, quizzes and grading mechanisms tailored to learning outcomes.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into the HE ecosystem—used by students, researchers, and educators alike—BAIT-HEI aims to address challenges and unlock opportunities by providing cutting-edge training and operational resources.

The general objective of the BAIT-HEI project is to harness the potential of AI to modernize pedagogical approaches and practices in higher education.

The project’s specific objectives include:

  1. Support modernization through advanced AI-powered tools.
  2. Equip educators to develop adaptive curricula and perform timely assessments.
  3. Empower educators with training suites that leverage AI to create effective learning materials and assess student performance.

The project aims to significantly benefit higher education by supporting strategic modernization of teaching practices. Insights from the project could lead to the development of more engaging teaching methods, adaptive assessments and efficient curriculum designs. The potential Earth-based applications extend to improving workforce training programs and adaptive learning solutions.

During the meeting, hosted in Brussels, the partners had the opportunity to introduce themselves by dedicating the first part of the meeting to the presentation of the organisations and the institutions that will collaborate in the development of BAIT. During the meeting the partners analysed the details of the project plan and precisely defined roles and responsibilities for the implementation of the project activities. After reviewing all the objectives and results to be produced, the partners established the visual identity of the project by choosing, the logo and the website domain that will be online very soon.

The initiative highlights the transformational role of AI in education while addressing its long-term challenges and opportunities. By equipping academic staff with practical AI tools, BAIT-HEI strives to ensure higher education institutions remain adaptive and innovative.
